Over €3.4M Secured For Housing Adaption Grants For Older & Disabled People

301

Tipperary County Council will receive €3,408,125 funding for Housing Adaptation Grants for Older and Disabled people for this year.

Grants of up to €30,000 are available to assist people in carrying out necessary works to make a house more suitable for their needs. Additionally, grants of up to €8,000 are available to assist older people to have necessary repairs or improvements carried out on their homes. Grants of up to €6,000 are also available for mobility aids.

The funding announcement has been welcomed by Senator Garret Ahearn who sees a double benefit as the works will also mean extra work for local contractors. Adapting homes to people’s needs also means they can live as independently as possible in their own homes which is something the Senator says is also very important.

Nationally a total fund of €83.125m has been allocated for the scheme and this represents a 23% increase on last year’s allocation. Applications for the funds will be processed by Tipperary County Council.
