The Irish Cancer Society is to benefit from a Coffee Morning(Day) being hosted by St Anthony’s nursing home in Pallasgreen on Friday March 24th beginning at 11am.  St Anthony’s  is looking forward to strong support for it’s event which will be hosted in the parlour of the Nursing home.

Residents and staff will host this special day for friends, families and local communities and all are welcome to attend.

Daffodil pins will be on sale with a cake sale and raffle also planned.

Anyone willing to donate baked goods is invited to drop them to St Anthony’s on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

The Nursing home is joining forces this year with local man Mike O’Donoghue and his legendary team known as the Mighty Eight.

Mr O’Donoghue has worked to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society for over a decade and will hold his team’s event on April 14th this year.

The event will be held at Mr O’Donoghue’s home this year and will also include a tree planting ceremony in memory of everyone affected by cancer.

Mr O’Donoghue’s coffee morning may be the longest coffee morning in Ireland as it begins when the first person arrives and ends whenever the last person leaves – possibly a 24 hour event.

During the pandemic the Mighty Eight team continued to fundraise by using walks, sleep outs and fasts to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
