Funeral Arrangements Announced For Donnchadh Ó Cinnéide

Tributes have been paid following the death yesterday of Donnchadh Ó Cinnéide.

Donnacha died following an illness  aged 72.

Brú Ború in Cashel will perform their Summer show tonight but have cancelled the shows planned for Thursday 11th and Friday 12th August as a mark of respect.

Donnchadh lived at Grangemore, outside Cashel.

He presented the Comhaltas programme on Tipp Mid West Radio every Monday night and a memorable programme on Easter Mondays to mark the events of Easter 1916.

Tipp Mid West Radio General Manger Tom Hartnett praised Donnchadh today for the opportunities he gave to new artists as he hosted a show for over 30 years on TMWR.

Mr Hartnett said his professionalism and passion shone through in the manner in which he compiled and presented his weekly programme.

Members of the global Comhaltas organisation have also expressed sadness at his death and appreciation for his contribution to promoting Irish culture and the support he gave to those organising festivals and events.

Donnchadh will lie in repose at Devitts Funeral Home tomorrow Thursday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Requiem Mass on Friday is in the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, Dualla at 2pm this can be viewed on Funerals live.ie/deniskennedy. Burial will be in Cormac’s Cemetry Cashel.
