Irish Water has today announced plans for a 20 million euro upgrade to twelve wastewater treatment plants that will benefit rural communities and protect local rivers.

The waste water treatment plant in Grangemockler is the only Tipperary location included while Galbally is the only Limerick plant on the list.

Clonea Power in Waterford and Kilmihil in Clare are the only other Munster wastewater plants on the list for upgrade.

This project will be funded by the European Union under Ireland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Once complete, the newly upgraded plants will provide additional treatment capacity to support housing and growth, improve water quality in rivers and safeguard water supplies. The plant upgrades are due to be completed by 2025.
