1069

The HSE is encouraging people to quit smoking on this National No Smoking Day.

The Health Service Executive is providing supports to people to try to stop smoking for 28 days – saying those who complete this challenge are more likely to give up smoking for good.

Tipperary man Stefano Sweetman has documented his journey in RTE’s Operation Transformation and suceeded in ending his habit of smoking 30-40 cigarettes a day using the QUIT supports provided by the HSE Stop Smoking Advisor.

HSE Public Health advice is one in two smokers will die from tobacco-related disease and a smoker can expect to lose on average about 10 years of their life due to smoking.

Those living in Clare, Limerick, and North Tipperary can avail of QUIT Mid West supports and advice for those looking to quit smoking.

They can be contacted 065 6865841 or via email at [email protected].

Those in the South of the county can contact the South Tipperary Stop Smoking Service on 052 6177058 or by email to [email protected].
