Schools Reopen Amid Omicron Surge

Schools are due to re-open today after the Christmas Break with high levels of staff and student absences expected due to covid related issues.

Fórsa Trade union and the Irish Second Level Students Union representing students and SNAs have all called for improved safety measures for staff and students.

The Irish Second Level Students Union is now calling for a phased return to school, starting from Monday, prioritising in-person tuition for exam year students and students with Special Education Needs, and for additional adjustments to be made to the Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle exam papers for 2022.
