Tipperary County Council says no decision has been made regarding the cross-section of the road component of the proposed Transport Solution for the N24 Cahir to Limerick Junction Project.

The Council issued a statement yesterday to clarify that the Design Team assessments are ongoing and adds that all relevant TII standards and guidance relating to the selection of the cross-section are being taken into consideration by the Design Team.

The Council says there are many factors to be considered in this selection, including but not limited to: safety, climate, environment, traffic, economic factors, etc.

The project is currently at phase three – in phase two, a single carriageway was used by the Design Team for the indicative design to create the option corridors.

That indicative design was preliminary only and subject to change. A full planning application is expected to be submitted in early 2025.

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath claimed last week that the design would include a single carriageway while safety campaigners are seeking dual carriage separated by a median.
