MIC Thurles On The Schedule For Education Minister’s Visit To Tipperary Today

Minister for Higher and Further Education Simon Harris is visiting Tipperary today.

The Minister is due at St Patrick’s MIC Campus in Thurles around noon to meet with College management regarding an expansion of the programme at the College – Deputy Jackie Cahill has been progressing a project to have Home Economics Teacher Training included in the programme at the Thurles location which currently provides training for Teachers in 4 other disciplines.

The Minister will also visit the LIT campus in Thurles and Clonmel and make a trip to Borrisokane to visit the Tipperary ETB Further Education facility. The minster is expected in Clonmel in the afternoon – he will visit the Kickham Barracks site which is earmarked as a new home for LIT Clonmel.

In the autumn the Minister is expected to give formal approval to the creation of TUS – The Technological University of the Shannon formed by the merger of Athlone Institute of Technology and Limerick Institute of Technology.
