Gardaí warn of consequences for those ignoring restrictions

Tipperary town gardaí are advising motorists that if they break travel restrictions between now and Easter Sunday, to expect to face the consequences.

Yesterday the Health Minister Simon Harris signed-off on legislation giving gardaí extra powers enabling them to enforce the travel and gathering restrictions that have been in effect for some time now.

The penalties include fines and/or prosecution.

Tipperary town gardaí advises that checkpoints will be in operation throughout the region and they will be ensuring that people are abiding by the restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19.

There are concerns that some people may flout the restrictions and attempt to travel to holiday homes or caravans this Bank Holiday weekend.
