The farmers who took to the streets of Dublin earlier this week have said that the crisis they face ‘is very real’, with many families struggling financially in the lead-up to Christmas.
Beef Taskforce talks moved a step closer yesterday after C&D Foods lifted two remaining injunctions – which had been the main obstacle to talks getting underway.
The Individual Farmers group have now questioned why this could not have been dealt with sooner, and have demanded that the Minister for Agriculture is questioned over it.
In a statement in which they were critical of how the challenges facing farmers have been addressed thus far, the group has warned that they ‘will not allow incompetence or inadequacy to go unchallenged’, and that they ‘will not be dismissed or ignored any longer’.
