Fire Rages Close to Clonmel Homes

As the dry weather persists and the countryside remains prone to gorse and grass fires, a picture posted on the Facebook page of Tipperary Fire and Rescue shows how close a fire came to a housing estate in Clonmel recently.

The photo shows the glow of flames as well as smoke from such fire in a field near the Longfield Estate.
In that post, a spokesperson for Tipperary Fire and Rescue has explained how easily fires can be started unintentionally, particularly by people leaving glass bottles discarded in the open while discarding lit cigarettes can also cause fires to start.

The fire service is asking everyone to be vigilant and conscious of fire safety. If anyone sees a fire they are asked to call 999 or 112.

Getting to these fires as quickly as possible can make a huge difference to how far a fire can spread.
