Golden Included in Flood Relief Plans

The village of Golden has been included in the government’s plans for flood relief schemes, announced today.

Over 100 locations across the country that are considered among those most prone to flooding have been included in the government’s 10-year plan, while schemes in Golden and Nenagh and are among 50 projects included in the first round of funding.

Welcoming the announcement today, Deputy Michael Lowry said that engineers will now examine the options available to them, and a period of public consultation will also get underway in the near future.

Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, local FG councilor Michael Fitzgerald has spoken of the problems that his area of Golden has had to deal with in the past and has welcomed the development, which includes addressing issues in the area of Ballygriffin Bridge.
