130 staff at Suir Pharma Clonmel face redundancy

Workers at the Suir Pharma facility in Clonmel are still coming to terms with the news yesterday that a provisional liquidator is being appointed.  As a result around 130 staff are facing redundancy.

One of the reasons the company gave for the decision is that it lost nearly €5 million in the 15 months to March of last year.

However, workers say that the company is not going to fund their redundancy and that they will have to go the state for a reduced payment.

One of the workers, Andy Moloney, told Morning Call today that too many workers across the country are finding themselves in this situation when their jobs come to an end.  The government, he says, needs to act to address this problem.
