Independent TD Seamus Healy has said that he is to call for the opening of a 40-bed unit at Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel, as the number of people on trolleys at South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel continues to remain high.
Speaking this morning, Deputy Healy pointed out that on the day in which the first vote for Taoiseach took place, March 10th, 44 people were on trolleys at South Tipperary General Hospital.

He has also noted that the occupancy of the 79 medical beds is now running at 150% capacity and that general surgery and gynaecology procedures are being cancelled as a result.
He maintains that the one obvious solution to the problem is the re-opening of the 40-bed unit at our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel.
He will be raising the matter in the Dail tomorrow.
