Increase in number of new home builds in Co Tipperary.

There has been a considerable increase in the number of new home builds in Co Tipperary in the first half of this year.According to figures released by the Department of the Environment, 169 houses were built between January and June of this year.

That figure represents an increase of 117% when compared to construction activity in the first six months of 2014.
Of the 169 new homes built, 126 of them were one-off houses.  The department of the Environment however, believes that nationally, the issue of high housing demand will not be resolved through the building of one-off houses; as they are not usually built for subsequent resale.
Nationally, 5625 new houses were built in the first half of the year.  2693 of those were one-off houses.
