Local TD Michael Lowry has been found tax compliant and is to ask the courts to dismiss a criminal prosecution which was initiated against him by the Revenue Commissioners.
The case was taken by Revenue on the grounds that the Co Tipperary TD had allegedly filed incorrect tax returns.
The case related to tax returns for 2003 and 2007.
However the Tax Appeal Commissioners have unanimously ruled that he has no tax liability and that his tax returns were correct and in order.

His company Garuda has also won its appeal against a Revenue assessment for PAYE and PRSI.
Speaking upon the findings, the Independent TD commented how from the outset his legal team, accountants and independent experts said the assessment of his affairs by Revenue was wrong.  He said that following this finding, which he described as ‘clear cut’, his legal team will now be initiating a High Court Judicial Review to have proceedings against him struck out.
