Gardai in Co Tipperary have launched a new county-wide operation targeting burglaries in the county.
Since 2015 began, Gardai have seen an increase in the number of day and evening time burglaries taking place in the Tipperary division.
In order to tackle this, gardai have launched Operation Interdiction which is currently in effect and will remain operational through February.

This is a high-visibility operation, in which gardai will hold regular checkpoints around the county where they will be looking for evidence or equipment used in the course of burglaries.  They will also use the checkpoints to distribute leaflets on burglary prevention.
In addition, gardai are appealing to anyone with information relating to burglaries to contact them or speak to them at the checkpoints.
They are also appealing to motorists not to alert other motorists about an upcoming checkpoint as they may be inadvertently alerting burglars.
