The radiological Protection Institute has identified a home in Co Tipperary which, the organisation says, is exposed to far more Radon Gas than is acceptable.
In its latest belletin, the RPII claims that in the last eight months almost 1,200 homeowners across the country have tested their homes.
It found that 25 homes, including the one in Co Tipperar, were found to have up to ten times the acceptable level of the cancer-causing, naturally occuring gas.
The other 24 homes were spread out amongst Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Mayo Sligo, Waterford and Wexford.
However, four home in Castlegar in Co Galway, Campile in Co Wexford and Ballisodare in Co Sligo were found to have between 10 and 22 times the acceptable level of Radon.
