Sinn Fein Criticises Government Failure To Tackle Major Crisis In Budget

Sinn Féin TD for Tipperary, Martin Browne, has criticised the government’s failure to tackle the major crises in housing and health through Budget 2024.

Deputy Brown says “It is shocking that the Government ignored the housing crisis even though they had the money to make a decisive intervention that could have made a real difference.”

The Cashel based TD highlights a lack of additional funds for capital spending in housing, no new targets and he adds “no prospect of getting to grips with this crisis.”

The TD says people in Tipperary needed to see new housing measures in the budget, especially increased targets to deliver social and affordable housing.

The TD is also critical of funding allocated to the Health Department, with no additional money for new hospital beds, what he terms a “derisory allocation for youth mental health services” and a fraction of what is needed for disability services.
