County Tipperary female President of Vintners Federation of Ireland

A county Tipperary woman has been elected as the first ever female president of the Vintners Federation of Ireland.

Noirin O’Sullivan from Nenagh was elected to the position today and will head up an organisation that represents an estimated 50,000 jobs.

Speaking after her election, the Puckane native who runs a pub in Nenagh said that the pub industry is facing significant challenges, with 1,300 having closed in recent times.

She took the time to urge the government to address the sale and promotion of cheap alcohol and to introduce a ban on priced advertising . Her term will last years.
