HSE to seek funding to open 12 beds at Our Lady’s Hospital Cashel

The HSE has confirmed that it will seek the funding that would allow it to open 12 beds at Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel to take the pressure off South Tipperary General Hospital.

Cahir councillor Seanie Lonergan was given the commitment by the South Eastern Hospitals Group Network Manager Richard Dooley at the most recent meeting of the Regional Health Forum South.

Cllr Lonergan however said it is disappointing that a commitment has only been given to seek the funding, adding that the only timeframe was “sooner rather than later”.

The commitment was given at a time when the number of people on trolleys at South Tipperary General Hospital Emergency department remains particularly high.
