County Council officials to visit Littleton graveyard

Officials from North Tipperary County Council were due to visit Littleton graveyard today to ascertain the work that needs to be done to resolve the  flooding problem there.

The graveyard has been underwater ever since the recent heavy rains.   It is believed the flooding is being caused by a spring in the graveyard an also because of its location which is said to be at a lower level than surrounding the land.

Officials at the council will now compile a report on what needs to be done to resolve the problem in the long term and what funding will be needed to carry out the work.

Meanwhile a decision is also expected to be made over whether or not the council will reimburse the local community for hiring a pump to bring water levels down at the graveyard.
