Waterford Regional Hospital concerns

There are concerns over the safety of patients in the South East region and further afield upon the news that a consideration is being given to downgrading Waterford Regional Hospital.

It emerged last week that a review of the South East Hospital network is looking to downgrade the hospital to “county status”.  If such a move goes ahead, patients from Tipperary who use services at the hospital may have to go to Cork while patients from Kilkenny and Wexford may have to travel to Dublin.

Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio today, Waterford City Councillor Gary Wyse (FF) said that such a change in the way the hospital network is set up could put peoples lives at risk.
