Tipperary Town gardai are appealing to motorists to slow down as temperatures dip.

According to gardai some motorists are failing to pay adequate attention to the possibility of icy patches on the roads in the mornings.

Drivers are being asked to slow down and to allow for longer stopping distances.

Meanwhile, the County Council has been informed of a pothole at Limerick Junction that caused damage to a number of vehicles yesterday evening.

Local residents are reporting a number of tyres burst and wheels damaged due to the pothole in question and concerns have been voiced over the threat it poses to traffic safety.

Gardai say they have been informed of it and the council notified.
