A collection of rare books acquired by Co. Tipperary landowner are to go to auction in Dublin next week.
The collection remains at Barne House near Clonmel which is now owned by the family of Richard Moore who collected the books during the 1700’s.
Known as the Richard Moore Collection, it contains scientific publications with a number of first editions, as well as rare maps, Indian manuscripts and almanacs.
In all, around €250,000 is expected to be raised through the auction at Mealy’s auctioneers.
