South Tipp General Hospital asks people to only attend ED ‘in the case of a genuine emergency’

With the number of people presenting at the Emergency Department (ED) of South Tipperary General Hospital increasing significantly recently, the hospital has this morning appealed to members of the public to only attend in cases of genuine emergency.

Hospital management has said that the ED is currently experiencing significant overcrowding. Management is asking members of the public to only attend in the case of a genuine emergency and to consult a GP or Caredoc out-of-hours service in the first instance where possible.

However, if members of the public are seriously injured or ill or are worried that their life is at risk, the Emergency Department will assess and treat them as a priority.
