A new National Housing Index published today has shown the extent of the drop in construction activity in Tipperary.
The survey measured both submitted Planning Applications and Planning Commencements for the county.
In January and February 2011, 82 Planning Applications were submitted in Tipperary. In the same period this year, 66 Applications were submitted constituting a drop of 20%
In the same period, the number of Commencement Notices issued in Tipperary had decreased from 44 projects to 23 making the percentage decrease 48%
The Index has shown considerable variations nationally in housing construction activity and that housing extensions now make up the majority of active projects.
