The future of Cluain Arran Welfare Home in Tipperary Town may be known in the immediate future according to Fine Gael Deputy Tom Hayes

Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio today Deputy Hayes said that list of the units that will be closed as part of the government cost saving measures will be published shortly after the HSE Service Plan 2012.

He is confident the Tipperary Town Facility unit will survive the cuts.  Cluain Arran was recently included in a list of homes whose futures were being considered by the Health Minister James Reilly.

The HSE in the service plan has confirmed that 555 public nursing home bed will close.  It is expected the finer details of the plan will be announced shortly.
