St Michael’s To Hold Celebration Event This Sunday

St Michael’s Soccer Club in Tipperary town are to hold a celebration event on Sunday night in the Ballykisteen Great National Hotel.

Club Chairman Raymond Lonergan says tickets can still be booked up to today as numbers must be finalised for the hotel. Contact any committee member or email [email protected] .

The event will see the reunion of three teams that won major trophies in 1974, 1994 and 2014.

In addition, the current team who won three trophies this year will also take part in the celebration.

St Michael’s was founded in 1947 and the club name acknowledges that the land for club grounds was provided by St Michael’s parish.

In 1974 the club won the FAI Junior Cup, in 1994 the FAI National Youth Cup was secured and the FAI Junior Cup was again secured in 2014.

Mr Lonergan says winning a competition creates a special bond between players that endures. The club has tried to contact as many as possible of their players involved to attend the event.

The 2023/2024 Season was also highly rewarding with the St Michael’s team winning the Tipperary Southern District League(TSDL), the TSDL Tipperary Cup and the Munster FA Junior Cup.
