Number Of Vandalism Incidents In Tipperary Town Overnight

Tipperary Tidy towns group reports that 2 of seven new Heritage signs recently installed in the Tipperary Hills area have been stolen – the incident is one of a number of incidents of vandalism overnight.

A total of 7 signs were installed in recent weeks as part of the Tipperary Hills Enhancement project. Overnight the signs detailing links to the War of Independence. including the murder of local man Michael Edmonds and the sign relating to the Norman Motte were removed. The support post for one of the signs was also moved from it’s foundation.  A window in a van parked at the Pitch and Putt club was also smashed overnight.  Tipp Mid West Radio is awaiting a response form Tipperary Town Garda Station in respect of reports of vandalism in the Market Yard  where a tree is reported to have been removed from one of the planters and on Kickham Street overnight.   Paul O’Callaghan Chairperson of the Tidy Towns Group says it is a pity the work of the group is disrespected.
