Europe Day Celebration Event To Take Place In Cashel Today

An event will be held in the Plaza in Cashel today to mark Europe day. The flag raising ceremony begins at 11am and is hosted by the Cashel Friends of Europe Association.

Cashel is Ireland’s lead town in the EU Charter of Rural Communities which sees one town in each European country represent that nation. Unlike other twinning arrangements each town in the Charter of Rural Communities engages with all of the other towns.  This year delegates from Cashel will attend events in France, Hungary and England.

In addition, there is a public meeting in Cashel tonight in Bru Boru at 8pm titled Europe Matters. The event will be hosted by Labhras O’Murchu and will feature contributions from Dr Martin Mansergh, Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs  Sean Fleming, Deputy Jackie Cahill and the EU Candidate for Ireland South Cynthia Ni Mhurchu. This event is organised by Fianna Fáil.
