Local Hospitality Success At Irish Restaurant Awards

Tipperary Hospitality businesses are celebrating today after their excellence in Tipperary was recognised last night at the Munster Finals of the Irish Restaurant Awards held in the Great Southern Hotel Killarney.

Kickham House, Tipperary town was selected as the best Pub in the county,  O’Neills in Thomastown won for Best Customer Service, Chez  Hans  in Cashel emerged as Best Restaurant in the county, the Best Gastro Pub Award went to the Cellar Restaurant in Baileys Hotel, Cashel while the Cashel Palace won for best Chef Stephen Hayes and the Best Hotel and Guesthouse category. Saffron Indian Cashel won for best world cuisine in Tipperary.

Louse O’Connell, owner of the Runnerbean Café in Thurles emerged as The Local Food Hero while the Granary in Thurles won for best Newcomer and it’s sister restaurant Mitchell House won for Best Wine service.

Sos Beag in Thurles won for best Café. Rivesci based in Clonmel won the Best Innovator Awards – the award winning condiment makers have now opened a coffee/retail space in Irishtown.

Catherine O’Connell in Mani, Clonmel emerged as Best Restaurant Manager in Tipperary  while  Aileen Kelly, at Bowes & Co won for Employee Excellence, De Róistes Bar & Restaurant(Ballinderry, Roscrea) won for Best Contemporary Cuisine, Bodega 1830(Clonmel) for Best Sustainable Practices and the Award for Best Casual Dining in Tipperary went to Larkins in Garrykennedy.

Regional and All Ireland Winners – including in categories such as Best Restaurant and Best Chef – will be revealed at the All Ireland Awards Gala Dinner at the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road, Dublin 4 in May.
