A peaceful protest in solidarity with the people of Palestine is to be held in Tipperary town  on Saturday  February 24th . The event will be held in the Market Yard commencing at 2pm and the organisers say all are welcome.

The group previously held an event on January 6th when two local women, Dolores Mulcahy and Josephine Carroll,  wanted to respond in an act of solidarity with the people of Palestine.  On that occasion a crowd of 90 stood in silent vigil for  30 minutes following an address by  Dean McGrath the Chairperson of the South Tipperary branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Conference.

The majority of the population of Gaza has been displaced since mid October when Israel began an offensive in response to the Hamas attack on October 7th.  An estimated 1.5M people are now seeking shelter in Rafah in southern Gaza in what are described as dire humanitarian conditions by the UN with food, water and medical supplies in short supply.
