CSO Release Data On The Number Of PPSNs Given To Arrivals From Ukraine

There were 104,870 Personal Public Service Numbers (PPSNs) given to arrivals from Ukraine between 4 March 2022 and 4 February 2024, under the Temporary Protection Directive. The data was released today by the CSO.

Women and men, aged 20 and over, made up 46% and 23% respectively of arrivals to date, while 31% were people aged under 20. There were 17,310 arrivals enrolled in further education and training courses on 01 February this year, of which 14,186 were enrolled in further education English language courses.

Kenmare Local Electoral Area(LEA), in county Kerry with 2,846 reports the highest number of arrivals from Ukraine. 

County Tipperary is accommodating 3,321 arrivals from Ukraine as follows based on PPSN allocations –

As a percentage of population the Newport LEA in County Tipperary  is amongst the lowest in Ireland at 0.22% while the highest rate was 12.47% in Ennistymon. 

As of 4 February 2024, 41,000 arrivals had attended an employment support event arranged by Intreo Public Employment Services. Of those, 59% (or 24,059 persons) noted that English language proficiency was a challenge in securing employment.

These figures relate solely to arrivals from Ukraine and do not include IPAS (asylum seekers) accommodated in County Tipperary.
