Clonmel based Cllr Michael Murphy has taken to social media to seek updates on water outages in the town.  On Sunday morning the Councillor highlighted that thousands of Clonmel residents on the Monroe supply were without water since Saturday evening and that there was no information on the Water.ie website.

Uisce Eireann eventually responded to say that following repairs to a burst water main there were problems with a pumping station that needed to be addressed to resolve the outage. These works have now been completed. Cllrs are reporting that the weekend contact channels put in place to enable councillors to seek information when outages occur does not work efficiently.

Meanwhile in West Tipperary, Cllr Declan Burgess is offering hope that improvements in the water service are imminent.

The Cashel based Councillor says that water pump upgrades and associated works are to take place in the coming weeks to bring the Dundrum reservoir back into full time use.  Councillor Declan Burgess says he has been raising regular concerns about the impact of long outages and lack of investment into water infrastructure and the negative impact it is having on communities, particularly the significant issues affecting the Dundrum/Knockavilla area.
