Works To Resume To Install Sensors For Main Street Traffic Lights

Road works will resume on Main Street Tipperary town tonight to enable the installation of sensors to operate the traffic lights.

At present the traffic lights at the junction of Main and Bridge streets are operating on a timer system.

The sensors previously deployed were removed when the road surface was removed and replaced last week.

Tipperary County Council says the looped sensors make the traffic lights “more efficient/intelligent and although the timers seem to be working satisfactorily” the sensors will be restored over Monday and Tuesday night.

In addition work is planned on utility covers in the area resurfaced in the town centre  last week.

Drivers to are asked to drive with caution in the area. A Stop & Go Traffic System will be in place during the works expected to begin at 8pm tonight.
