Tipperary Councillor Meets With Comhairle na nÓg To Address Concerns Of Tipperary’s Young People

Cathaoirleach of the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District Councillor Declan Burgess and Tipperary Comhairle na nÓg have collaborated on compiling a submission to the Tipperary Local Economic and Community Plan. Issues such as educational and employment opportunities, public transport barriers and initiatives that will help tackle the climate emergency were considered.

Comhairle na nÓg are youth councils in the 31 local authorities of the country, which give young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies. Councillor Burgess is a former Comhairle na nÓg member and served as Chairperson of the South Tipperary Comhairle na nÓg in 2013

Tipperary Local Community Development Committee has commenced a process to prepare a Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) for the period 2023-2028.   Cllr Burgess says that “as Cathaoirleach of Tipperary’s largest Municipal District he welcomes the development of this plan saying it is important for the council to engage with young people.”
