Work Continues On Tipperary Hills Enhancement Project

Pathway being installed around the top of the Motte – Tipperary Hills, Tipperary town

Work is continuing on the Tipperary Hills enhancement project. The work is being supervised by the Tipperary County Council project delivery team.

Since work started two weeks ago the pathways have been widened and a new circular pathway is being installed on the top of the Motte known locally as the cup and saucer.

The pathway from St Patrick’s Avenue to St John’s graveyard is being increased to 3 metres wide to facilitate funerals.

English Tar are appointed as the main contractor which includes the civil works and tarmacadam topping and the work on the kick about area which is to be levelled and reseeded. Remaining contractors will be appointed in due course once the tender process is complete for elements such as the dog exercise area, planting and the Peace Path.

It is expected that all works and planting will be completed by December.

The Peace Path project is a separate project and details of the project are to be announced in the coming weeks. The Tipperary Hills project is expected to cost €600,000 – €500,000 is from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme and Tipperary County Council provided €100,000.
