The Blood Transfusion Service(IBTS) is appealing for donors for clinics today and tomorrow in Thurles (July 31st and August 1st). The clinics will run from 4.50pm until 8.10pm and will be held in the Dome near Semple Stadium.
The service is struggling to maintain blood supplies at the desired level to meet demand from hospitals. The IBTS says the demand from hospitals continues to rise with current hospital blood requirements almost 6% higher than requirements this time last year.
New blood donors are welcome and people are asked to telephone 1800 222 111 to make an appointment for the Thurles Clinic. Further information is available on the giveblood.ie website.
