Cashel Community Rally To Help Raise Funds For Young Boy

The local community is rallying to help raise funds for a young boy who suffered severe injuries as a result of an accident in January 2023.

The toddler, Donnacha Begley, was hospitalised and a blood clot developed on his back where he had a very small fracture, the clot pushed against his spinal cord, which ended up damaging the nerves in his spinal Cord.

This has resulted in Donnacha being paralysed from the chest down. Doctors have said it is unlikely he will walk again but his family remain hopeful.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise funds for the family to help cover costs for medical appointments in Dublin, specialist equipment, a suitable vehicle and home modifications.

Over the next two days a number of fundraising events are to take place in Cashel – these include a Bucket Collection on Saturday between 11 and 3pm which is organised by Cashel Fire Service Personnel.

On Sunday a Motor Show is being held at Circle K – junction 8(Cashel South on the M8).

This is to the public from 10am until 3pm. There is no admission charge but donations are most welcome.

The Show is to feature cars, bikes, tractors and trucks and a huge array of entertainment – those taking part with their vehicle are asked to pay a modest entry fee.

A sound stage will feature a range of musical performances. Musicians or children interested in performing are welcome to contribute to the day’s entertainment – a raffle, sweet stall and face painting are also included on the day.

The organisers can be contacted by calling Paddy Doyle at 087 693 2103.
