There was widespread support for calls for the existing bus stop on Abbey street Tipperary town to be moved to the Link Road at today’s council meeting.

A motion submitted by Cllr Roger Kennedy asked for the bus stop to be moved and for a bus shelter to be installed.

The stop is used by passengers on the 855 Local Link Service and the Bus Eireann Waterford to Limerick service. Cllr Rodger Kennedy submitted the motion.

The National Transport Authority(NTA) has already examined the area with a view to upgrading the bus stops and Tipperary county council has requested the NTA  fund the relocation of the Abbey St stop.

Cllrs today formally approved the proposals and all expressed the wish that the work could be done as soon as possible subject to NTA funding.

Cllr Anne Marie Ryan asked that the stop be compliant with all standards to make it wheelchair accessible.
