Cashel based Councillor, Declan Burgess, has warmly welcomed €100,000 in funding to help deliver the Cashel to Cahir cycleway project.  The funding from the Department of Transport is part of an overall package of €63M for 70 greenway projects across the country.

Cllr Burgess describes the project as an important infrastructural project and a great opportunity for the communities of Cashel and Cahir.  Given that both towns offer extensive tourism experiences the Cashel to Cahir cycleway is an added boost – the Councillor is also expressing his thanks to Council Engineering and Administrative staff for their work on the project. The project will also benefit the village of New Inn located between the two towns.  The project will enable a link to the Suir Blueway which links Cahir to Carrick on Suir via Clonmel. A feasibility study is currently underway to investigate linking the Suir Blueway to the Waterford Greenway. Cllr Burgess says the amenity will be of value to local residents and visitors alike.

Tipperary County Council in tandem with the appointed consultants will be releasing further information on the design in the coming weeks.
