The former Galbally Garda Station has been put up for sale by the Office of Public Works in a public auction to be held on February 13th.  Rooney Auctioneers (Limerick) Ltd will handle the sale of the property  which  is situated on the western approach to the Glen of Aherlow which is between the Galtee Mountains and Slievenamuck.

The property could be converted to a single house or retain its current layout for use as two separate dwellings incorporating a total of five bedrooms. The Garda station in Galbally was originally withdrawn from sale following local community opposition back in 2013. The fact that the local station was in the unique position of having two Gardaí living there at the time was also thought to have influenced the sale withdrawal decision. That has now all changed, however, with the for sale sign up and a reported asking price in the region of €120,000 for Galbally Garda Barracks.
