HSE Apologies After Equipment Failure At Breastcheck Clinic in Cahir

Services at a Breastcheck Clinic in Cahir were disrupted yesterday due to an equipment failure.

The HSE says approximately 20 women were unable to have their mammogram yesterday morning as engineers worked to resolve technical issues.

Screening did resume later in the day.

The HSE is apologising to the women involved and says it will contact them as soon as possible to offer an alternative appointment.

The clinic was being held at the Primary Care Centre in Cahir.

The HSE points out that the screening service is targeted at well women who do not have symptoms of breast cancer and advises that any woman concerned about her breasts is advised to make an appointment with a GP in the first instance.
