Tipperary Fire and Rescue is issuing advice on fire safety during this festive season.

The organisation says it’s important to turn off Christmas lights, chargers and other electrics at night throughout the home.

They’re also advising that it’s one plug to a socket and to never overload electrical sockets.

Other advise includes only using Christmas Tree lights and extension leads with the CE mark, keep lights away from flammable materials and never place candles or open fires near the Christmas tree.

The local Fire Services are encouraging homeowners to check their smoke alarm on a regular basis.
