Final Touches Being Made Ahead Of Switching On Of Tipp Town Christmas Lights

Final arrangements are being made in Tipperary Town today for the turning on of the Christmas Lights on Saturday.

The event will take place at 5.30pm between the banks at the entrance to the Market yard.

A huge community effort supported by Tipperary County Council and local businesses is gathering funds to pay for the festive lighting.

Remembrance Tree in the Market Yard

Santa is to attend the event to assist Tipp Mid West Radio star Louise Morrissey as she turns on the lights.

Prior to that on Friday evening an event is also planned for the area when a names will be added to the Remembrance Tree.

This event is scheduled for 6.30pm and will feature music from the CJ Kickham Band. Donations received at the event are in aid of South Tipperary Hospice.

On Saturday between 11am and 4pm a Christmas Craft and Food Fair will be held in the Marian Hall.

The CJ Kickham band are part of a star studded line up for the Christmas Cracker concert in the Tipperary Excel Centre on Saturday evening at 8pm.
On Sunday there are two Christmas Events planned – St Mary’s Church will hold it’s Christmas Carol Service at 3pm while The Ryan’s Academy of Music will hold their Christmas Concert at 3pm in Ballykisteen Hotel. Free parking is available in all Tipperary town car parks during December and free on street car parking for a two hour period is available on Main Street between 9am and 6pm.

Tipperary Town Events and Promotions Group are also offering a €3,000 prize fund for those shopping in the town – receipts for purchases in Tipperary Town shops can be submitted in participating shops and the winners will be announced on Dec 21st and 22nd.

The key message this year is to Shop Local with Tipp Mid West Radio running a special Buy Local Support a Community Campaign.
