A Tipperary TD is raising an issue on behalf of a local family who are unable to get their son much needed treatment for an eating disorder.

Sinn Fein’s Martin Browne says CAMHS won’t deal with the anxiety on the basis that his Autism is not a mental illness or psychological disorder.

The child has the condition ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) and also has an ASD diagnosis.

His anxiety towards food is having a negative consequence on his health.

Meanwhile the Children’s Disability Network Team are also unable to help the family leaving the family with little or no support for the issue.

Deputy Browne is calling on the Minster for Health and the Minister for Children to intervene and source some help for the family and others that may be in a similar situation.
