Council Issues No Dog Fouling Fines Last Year

367

The council issued no fines for dog fouling in the county last year.

That’s according to National Council for the Blind of Ireland who recieve the figures from each of the local authorities.

This week NCBI launched its annual Clear Our Paths campaign which aimed at creating a safer and cleaner environment on our streets for people who are blind or vision impaired to get around independently.

The organisation says the lack of fines highlights a lack of enforcement but also indicates the threat of receiving a fine is not a strong enough deterrent to encourage pet owners to pick up after their dogs.

4 fines were handed out in Limerick City and County Council in 2021.
