CSO Figures Shows 110 Housing Units Completed In Second Quarter

The CSO has released data on new housing units completed in the second quarter of 2022.

Nationally there were 7,654 new dwelling completions in the 2nd quarter, up 53% from the same period in 2021, and up 59% from Q2 2019 – pre-pandemic.

This is the most completions seen in any quarter since the series began in 2011.

The primary data source used  is the ESB Networks new domestic connections dataset – the CSO has adjusted for an inbuilt overcount by using additional information from the ESB and other data sources.

Apartment completions rose 88% in the last year to 2,415 with scheme dwellings up 53% to 3,905 and single dwellings rising 15.% to 1,334. Just over half  – or 51.0% of all completions in Q2 2022 were scheme dwellings, 32% were apartments. while 17% were single dwellings.

Across county Tipperary there were 110 completions in the quarter.

Nenagh had the highest number of dwelling completions with 27 in the 2nd quarter of this year, Cashel Tipp reported 20, Clonmel and Carrick on Suir both recorded 17 new housing units completed while  Thurles had 13. Cahir and Newport both reported 6 and Roscrea recorded 4 new dwellings completed in the second quarter of 2022.
