Second COVID Vaccine Booster For 60-79 Year Being Considered

 A second Covid-19 booster is to be considered for people aged between 60 and 79 years and those with medical conditions putting them at high risk of severe disease according to the ECDP and Control.

Ireland is already offering second booster doses for those age 65 and older and people with weak immune systems.

The EMA has also confirmed that it is considering rolling out  vaccines that have been adapted for newer strains of the virus.

In Ireland the National Immunisation Advisory Committee is  examining the possibility of extending second booster doses to other age groups and the  operation of the vaccination progamme  for next winter.

There are 1055 pople in hospital with or for Covid and 38 of these people are in ICU.
